Description

The purpose of Landmark Cases in Mental Health and the Law is to introduce students to the major Supreme Court cases that have decided issues in mental health and related fields. This course will be a seminar in which students will read relevant case law in areas such as: competency to stand trial,
criminal responsibility, expert testimony, civil commitment, right to treatment, right to refuse treatment, capital punishment, workplace violence, etc. Additional readings will be assigned as new cases are published. Cross-listed as LG 311, PS 311.
