Description
This course provides a scientifically based foundation in the cognitive, socio-cultural, linguistic and motivational influences on literacy and language development. The current Science of Reading research is embedded throughout the course with topics including understanding reading research, cognitive psychology’s contributions to understanding the reading process, language development, the sequence of leasing to read, the essential components of reading instruction and an introduction to the most effective approaches to teaching reading across the grade bands. Teacher candidates will demonstrate proficiency in developing and implementing meaningful, integrated learning experiences to enhance reading and the language arts. Student will use the Ohio
