Social Studies for Elementary Teachers II (EDC 216)

Description

This is the second course in the two course series in social studies preparation for elementary classroom teachers. This course is designed to provide the necessary content to teach geographic literacy and history in the elementary classroom. Candidates use primary and secondary documents to learn about historical events in US and world history. Candidates explain and use historical thinking strategies through active learning experiences. Candidates also examine and explain how individuals from different respond differently to physical, social environments. Candidates articulate the value and implication of cultural diversity by comparing the similarities and differences among groups, societies, and cultures in meeting the needs of humans
