FACULTY BIOS Fall 2020

Synchronous Online Course Faculty

Charesha Barrett

Charesha Barrett, is the founder and president of CHARP EDucation Consulting, a diversity and inclusion (D&I) consulting and training firm. This 20-year veteran educational leader has spoken nationally on teacher leadership, racial equity, and cultural competency. Barrett graduated from The University of Akron with a B.S. in Education. She has a M.Ed. in Supervision, as well as an M.Ed. in Adult Learning, both from Cleveland State University. She has been teaching face to face courses for Professional Development since Summer 2019.

Tracy Coleman

 

Tracy is a 25-year veteran educator who has served as both a teacher and administrator, Tracy Coleman is committed to implementing strategies to maximize student learning. Currently a teacher and instructional coach for the Mentor Schools, Tracy has provided professional development across Ohio on topics ranging from blended learning to using technology to meet the demands of the next generation assessments to implementing instructional shifts to address standards. Currently the co-facilitator of the Blended Learning in Action Network, Tracy is an award-winning educator who strive to meaningfully incorporate technology into lessons with a focus on rigor and relevance. She has been teaching face to face courses for Professional Development since Summer 2016 and taught a synchronous online course in Spring 2020.

Sharon Graper

Mrs. Graper is the current Director of Academics at Holden Forests & Gardens, which is comprised of The Holden Arboretum and Cleveland Botanical Garden. For the past 25 years she has been in charge of developing programs both onsite and offsite for over 25,000 school children as part of their school curriculum. She also has extensive experience in developing programs for educators. She is a graduate of The University of Virginia with a B.A. in ecology. She has a B.S. from Oregon State University in Science Education and a M.Ed. from The University of Delaware in Elementary Science Curriculum and Instruction Design. She has been teaching face to face courses for Professional Development since 2009 and taught a synchronous online course in Summer 2020.

Sally Maher

Sally received her BA degree from Bowling Green State University with a certification in Elementary Education and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. She has a MA degree from John Carroll University with a specialty in Reading. She taught for almost 40 years in the Mayfield City Schools. She has taught the Phonics in Motion series of courses at Lake Erie PD since 2008. She taught the Best of Phonics in Motion face to face in Summer 2019.

Dr. Kelly Moran

Kelly is the current Curriculum Supervisor and Director of Federal Programs for the Chardon Local School District and has been in educational leadership for over eight years.  She has served as a Literacy Coach, Assistant Principal, Principal, and Director of Curriculum working in both Lake and Geauga counties. She has presented at both state and national level conferences on the topics of literacy, teacher evaluation, and school leadership.  Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education and Master of Education in Educational Administration from John Carroll University, and a Doctorate of Education in K-12 School Leadership from Youngstown State University with completion of a Superintendent's License.  Her dissertation explored the influencing school-based factors on teacher empowerment. She has been teaching face to face for Professional Development since Summer 2019 and taught a sychronous online course in Summer 2020.

Sarah Rivera

Sarah received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Lake Erie College and her Master of Education in Life Sciences from John Carroll University. She has been a classroom teacher for 8 years. Recently she was honored to receive the ITIP IGNITE Award, which showcases innovative usage of technology in the classroom. She is a Google Trainer …. When she is not innovating in the classroom, she spends time writing educational curriculum for documentary films, cooking, running, and spending time with her husband, 2 crazy dogs, and her son. She has been teaching for Professional Development since Fall 2017 and taught a synchronous online course in Summer 2020.

Amy Roediger

Amy has taught for Mentor Local Schools since 1996 as a Chemistry and Physical Science teacher. She has led a department of 22 teachers for over ten years. In addition, she serves as an Instructional Coach for her district. Amy was a 2016 recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). She is a Google Trainer and an Apple Teacher. She has been teaching for Professional Development since Spring 2014 and taught a synchronous online course in Summer 2020.

Melissa Solema

Melissa Solema began teaching with Euclid City Schools in 2003 as an elementary and instructional technology educator focusing on curriculum development, design, and teacher leadership. She transitioned to INFOhio as Instructional Team Specialist in 2018 where she supports teacher professional development and technology integration outreach through the use instructional materials aligned with INFOhio digital resources. She is also a Level 2 Google Certified Educator. She has been teaching for Professional Development since Summer 2018.

Brittany Cribari

Brittany is a graduate of Lake Erie College in 2008 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She completed both a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction Leadership.  She currently teaches 2nd grade for Hudson City School District. She strives to better herself as an informed educator who truly believes in continuing education. Through her commitment to my students and passion for teaching, she was nominated Teacher of the Year for Summit County in 2018. She is committed to continuing education and enjoy collaborating about new ideas and concepts. Her courses are about communication and learning while completing projects you will use in your classroom. When not in the classroom, she enjoys walking at the Holden Arboretum with her family. She has been teaching online courses for Professional Development since Summer 2018.

Dr. Katharine Delavan

Dr. Delavan is the Dean of the School of Education at Lake Erie College. Before coming to Lake Erie College in 2006 she was a Prek-1st grade teacher for 10 years in Michigan. Katharine has studied in Reggio Emilia, Italy, served as a member of Ohio's Network of Regional Leaders in ELA, an Institution of Higher Education (IHE) Participant and mentor in the Ohio Performance Pilot Program (OPAPP) for 4 years. Recently, Katharine has attended the Women in Leadership and Management Development Programs at Harvard Graduate School of Education and served as a Deans for Impact Fellow during the 2018-2019 academic year.  Katharine believes in building and maintaining strong relationships with local school districts and providing teacher candidates with real-world experiences to prepare them for the classroom. Katharine and her husband Thomas are the proud parents of two children, Ella 15, and Miles 13 and a 15 year old quarter horse, Leroy, a 15 year old Cairn Terrier, Ruby and a 2 year old guinea pig, Leia. She has been teaching online courses for Professional Development since Summer 2015.

Chris DeMario

Christopher DeMario has 10 years of Special Education classroom experience working with students with emotional and learning disabilities, in grades K-12. Chris has worked with his students to deal with impulse control, anxiety issues, as well as learning and attention deficits. Chris is well versed in behavior modification programs and has helped implement Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports systems in different school programs. Chris is also the Curriculum Coordinator at Customizable Professional Development and has worked with thousands of teachers across the country in improving their pedagogical skills, integrating technology into the classroom and increasing their capacity to meet the needs of students with special education services. He has been teaching online courses for Professional Development since Summer 2017.

Mike DeMario

Mike DeMario has over 10 years of Special Education classroom experience working with students with emotional and learning disabilities. Mike has worked with his students to deal with impulse control, anxiety issues, as well as learning and attention deficits. Mike has obtained a Masters in Education - Curriculum and Instruction from Trident University as well as a Masters in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Sociology from SUNY Stony Brook. Mike has recently earned his certification as a work based learning coordinator to assist students with developing vocational skills that will prepare them for the 21st Century workplace. Mike founded Customizable Professional Development in 2014 and has worked with thousands of teachers across the country in improving their pedagogical skills, integrating technology into the classroom and increasing their capacity to meet the needs of students with special education services. He has been teaching online courses for Professional Development since Summer 2015.

Andrew Underwesier

Andrew Unterweiser has over 18 years of Physical Education and Health classroom experience working with students from general education courses to adapted physical education classes for students with physical and emotional disorders. Andrew has worked with his students to deal with impulse control, anxiety issues, as well as learning and attention deficits.  Andrew has obtained a Masters in Health Education from Hofstra University.  Andrew has been a curriculum developer and course facilitator with Customizable Professional Development since 2016 and has worked with thousands of teachers and coaches across the country in improving their pedagogical skills, integrating technology into their classroom and increasing their capacity to meet the needs of their students academically, socially, physically and emotionally. He has been teaching online courses for Professional Development since Summer 2019.

Joelle Warsh

Joelle Warsh is the District Wide Instructional Technology Coordinator for the 5th largest school district in Colorado. She has Ohio roots and had been the K-6 and K-12 Technology Coordinator for Chagrin Falls Schools. Her BS in Elementary Education is from the University of Wisconsin and MEd is in Curriculum and Instruction in Computer Uses in Education. She has been teaching online courses for Professional Development since 2011.

Dr. Lynne Nagy

 

Dr. Lynne Nagy is a problem-solving master with a focus on education. Through various experiences such as Outward Bound, Lynne discovered that her passion is how individuals learn, create and ultimately play and work with others. Lynne earned her Master’s in Experiential Learning at Minnesota State University and then went on to obtain her PhD in Learning and Development from Cleveland State University. She has been teaching for Professional Development since 2008.
